“ It is very hard for disabled people to establish their rights in society – but if we work together we will have the confidence to establish these rights” Arefa Khatun, Sobar Satay Shikbo Federation, Kushtia, Bangladesh.

Vision

A world where all disabled people are able to enjoy their rights, fulfill their responsibilities and obligations and participate as fully as they choose at every level of society.

Goal

To support organisations of disabled people in Africa and Asia to influence policy and practice to end social exclusion and poverty.

Aims

1. Capacity Building - To enable rights-based organisations of disabled people to become self-sustaining, effective, democratic and representative membership organisations, able to carry out their work and to actively promote the rights of all disabled adults and children to full inclusion in society.

2. Influence - To work with disability rights organisations to influence policy makers and development organisations to include the rights and needs of disabled people in all their work and to encourage them to allocate resources for this.

Reaching our aims depends on working with an optimum number of disabled people’s organisations. By joining together at local, country, regional and international level these groups can form an effective force for social change and in working with them we will also seek to build alliances with other human rights organisations and development agencies.
